My wife, The Mindboggling Mrs. Miyoshi, likes to fool around. Most recently, in the bathroom.
(A friend of mine was actually hoping for a steamy expose a couple weeks ago when I wrote about nothing, but that is not what this is. This is merely a recounting of a recent episode in the relatively normal life of MediocreMan.)
I was brushing my teeth the other evening as we were getting ready for bed, when I was squirted by a stream of water coming from my wife’s side of the bathroom. I was startled to find that my wife was shooting me with this new Waterpik gum massager we got for Christmas.
I jumped out the doorway to our bedroom in order to get away but that did not deter The Mindboggling Mrs. Miyoshi. I was at least fifteen feet away and she was still squirting me. She was giggling and not at all worried about the water on the floor. Much less on me. As a matter of fact, she was elated that she could shoot so far! I was amazed that she was so carefree.
In reality, I should not have been so amazed. The Mindboggling Mrs. Miyoshi was just having a little fun at my expense. As usual. She likes to tease me. She sometimes even resorts to showing what she calls “boy love” by hitting me every now and again. Now, she is playing tricks on me and squirting me with water.
As much as I enjoy the attention and affection, I know I cannot do the same things back to her. For if I pull a prank on her, she will not get even. She will get ahead.
Then again, maybe that is just the former Mindboggling Mrs. Miyoshi. Maybe she has mellowed over time. She is certainly more childlike in all that she does. She is becoming more carefree with each passing year. Worries do not wrinkle her brow or give her anxiety. It seems that the older we get, the younger her attitude gets.
If I was the blaming type, I would blame it on God. For as my wife studies His word and gets to know Him better, she becomes more childlike. She takes her responsibilities seriously, but she does not worry anymore. She knows God is taking care of us.
That carefree childlike attitude means that my wife shows me more affection. Unfortunately, she shows it by teasing me more. By hitting me more. And, of course, by squirting me more.
It might seem an odd way to show affection, but I like that my wife likes fooling around. Even when fooling around means she is squirting me with water in the bathroom.
