Ode to Print · 28 January 2023
I never thought it would give me so much joy
To be holding a book that others might enjoy
I finally realized the fruits of labor in my hand.
Then again I never thought that any book of mine
Would ever even have a cover or a spine
I finally realized it with print on demand.
I never understood the power of the paper
To see it all in print, The Ice Cream Caper
I never realized the heft was all it took.
But people like to read when the book is in their hand
Whether a best seller or just some book upon the stand
I never realized that we all still want the book.
The books upon the shelf might just look like clutter
And for some authors out there they are their bread and butter
I never realized it was the book upon the shelf.
Words are not just fame and fortune to the successful writer
They are communication, they are the flame igniter
I never realized books were ideas for the self.
Ideas come and go but the best books will remain
Even when the authors are gone or are deemed insane
I never realized that words could have such power.
For the best ideas out there books expand their reach
And forever and always books ideas teach
I never realized that words could make us tower.
I never realized that the heft was all it took
I never realized that we all still want the book
I never realized it was the book upon the shelf
I never realized books were ideas for the self
I never realized that words could have such power
I never realized that words could make us tower
But I finally realized the fruits of labor in my hand
I finally realized it with print on demand.
